Shrimp in raw mango sauce is a very authentic northern Kerala dish.I would like to share this simple yet mouth watering dish which tastes amazing with pain white rice and a green chili!
Ingredients:
1.Shrimp - 1 lb
2.Raw mango - 1 finely chopped(grated)
3. Green chili - 2 slit
4.Ginger - 1 tbsp crushed
5. Garlic - 1 tsp crushed
6. Curry Leaves - 10/12
7. Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
8.Chili powder - 1 tbsp
9. Tomato - 1 cut into cubes
10. coconut oil - 1 tbsp
11. Shallot - 3 finely chopped
12. Coconut milk - 2 tbsp
Method of preparation:
1. In a earthen pot add the mangoes,tomato,green chili,garlic,ginger,turmeric,salt ,chili powder,curry leaves and 1 cup water and cook with closed lid in medium flame.
2. After 10-12 mins add the cleaned shrimp to it and cook for another 10 mins in high flame until water evaporates to form a thick consistency.
3.Now switch off the flame and add the coconut milk and stir .
4. In a pan,heat coconut oil and add the finely chopped shallot and fry it until dark golden brown,now add curry leaves to it.
5. Add this to the shrimp curry and mix well.
6.Serve the shrimp curry with steam white rice and a green chili!!!
